Hi everyone

I came across this interesting 'quirk/undiscovered feature' of Salesforce and just wanted to share it with you all.

I was running a Contact report with all of the results grouped by Mailing Country.

When I opened several of the Contacts who were showing as the "United States" as their Mailing Country the values were actually blank.

I came across an interesting Salesforce issue for a customer recently regarding their currency conversions.

The customer had recently implemented Advanced Currency Management in Salesforce but they were finding that forecasts no longer matched their Opportunity Currency Amounts.

This post is a short write up of the fix and a heads up to anyone who experiences this in future.

It's always useful to find out what the latest trends are in the Salesforce job market are, especially as it is changing so quickly.

Over the past few years, Mason Frank have run a survey that often shows interesting results.

Why should I complete it?

Me: "Certainly, which report are you having trouble with and what is happening when you're trying to run it?"

Customer: "It's the sales one and it's just not working...."

I was visiting a customer last week who kept seeing an error message declaring that a 'field ABCXYZ' is inaccessible.

The strange thing was that this field was not actually on the page layout, or visible in the field editor within the Object editor.

ProcessBuilder and Bulkification - Tread Carefully

Since it's launch, Process Builder from Salesforce has gained a lot of functionality. 

In many cases, it can now be used to automate actions that were only previously available with a custom Apex Trigger - in some instances!

The full list of functions possible in Process Builder are listed on this page but some of the most common requirements are:
  • Create a record
  • Update any related record—not just the record or its parent
  • Use a quick action to create a record, update a record, or log a call
  • Invoke a process from another process
  • Launch a flow—you can’t schedule this action with workflow
  • Send an email
  • Post to Chatter
  • Submit for approval
The ability to update related record(s) is one of the most popular features, but it comes with a caveat.

Web to Lead is also a really flexible way to bring in new business enquiries for potential new customers and process them in a structured way as Lead records.
